Sesame House is a newly built private residence in the bayside of Brisbane where Cactus Culture played a pivotal role in shaping the landscape from the ground up. Brought in early during the construction phase, our full-scope engagement: design, plant supply, and installation, meant our vision was instrumental in influencing how the outdoor spaces evolved alongside the architecture.
We were tasked with two key zones: a highly visible front garden that anchors the street presence, and a central atrium-style garden visible from the master bedroom – each designed to offer strong first impressions and ongoing visual impact.
Our approach combined soft native Australian grasses to introduce movement and seasonality, with architectural Cacti, Euphorbias, and Agaves for form and structure. The planting is grounded by Ablatio 5–7mm sandstone gravel sourced from Rock’n’Soil and anchored with oversized sandstone boulders, each hand-picked from the quarry by our team for shape and tone. These boulders weren’t just decorative, they were key spatial elements that helped define flow and create contrast within the landscape.
The end result is a minimal yet dynamic desert-inspired garden that feels deeply rooted in place, modern, distinctly Australian, and tightly integrated with the home’s architectural intent.
“They took the time to understand our design goals and offered expert guidance that perfectly aligned with what we were looking for. The end result exceeded our expectations, and we couldn’t be happier with how everything turned out. If you’re looking for landscaping experts who truly listen and deliver, make sure to connect with the team at Cactus Culture Australia!”
