Cactus Culture was commissioned to design and install an extensive potted cactus display at Joey’s, the renowned cliffside café, bar, and restaurant overlooking Kangaroo Point.
Our scope covered the complete plant selection, layout design, sourcing, and installation. Every species was chosen for its visual impact, safety around patrons, and ability to thrive in the bright, exposed cliffside environment.
The installation showcases a curated mix of statement species, including Golden Barrel Cacti (Echinocactus grusonii), Spineless Prickly Pears (Opuntia ficus-indica), Mexican Giant Cacti (Pachycereus pringlei), San Pedro Cacti (Echinopsis pachanoi), and elegant Euphorbias. To soften the composition, we incorporated Silver Falls (Dichondra argentea), adding a cascading silvery-green contrast to the clean, white planters.
The variety of pot sizes and forms were carefully matched to each plant’s distinct architecture. The result is a striking blend of sculptural desert forms and lush trailing greenery that enhances Joey’s vibrant, relaxed atmosphere and complements its panoramic river views.
