Introducing Casa del Cactus – the House of the Cactus. An extensive, high impact cactus garden at one of the Sunshine Coasts most prestigious private properties.
From the moment you enter the gates you are struck by the awe-inspiring sight of three 30-year-old Argentinian Saguaros (Echinopsis terscheckii) standing proud against an incredible 5 metre tall sandstone feature wall. Each one of these plants was transported over 400km by our team and skilfully installed with the assistance of a crane, each one weighing approximately 700-1000kg.
The ground level is exploding with dozens of cacti including columnar varietes such as San Pedros and Pachycereus pringlei. Too many Golden Barrels to count, and agaves of all different shapes of sizes, leading down to a beautiful feature Vietnamese Dragon Tree.
On the upper level a miniaturised landscape been sculpted into a raised planter, and potted specimens have been installed extensively throughout the residence.
The beautiful sound of the ocean can be heard in the distance as the sun sets, and thats when the garden truly comes alive. An extensive custom lighting system designed by our team and installed by a licensed electrician turns this beautiful garden into something breathtaking.
This project was one of our most ambitious to date. In particular, the harvesting, transporting, planting and securing the three giant feature cacti was full of complex challenges, and we have an enermous amount of pride in the end result we have been able to deliver for the customer.
