  • Trichocereus taquimbalensis is native to the Taquimbala province in Bolivia. It can be found growing on dry foot-hills of Andean valleys which receive summer rains but remain reasonably dry for the remainder of the year.

  • KEEP FULLY DRY WHILE ROOTING. Trichocereus taquimbalensis cuttings are much more prone to rotting in response to moisture in the soil than other Trichocereus species.

Reasonably hardy once established. Cold hardy but try to avoid prolonged frost exposure

Full sun is preferable once established.

    50/50 organic/mineral soil mixture

Water well in Spring/Summer, and keep quite dry in winter.

As this is a large cactus, a suitably large pot is recommended to provide ample root space. Ground planting once roots are established is recommended if you want to experience the true size and characteristics of this beautiful plant.

  • One of, if not THE slowest growing Trichocereus cactus that exists. About half as fast as Trichocereus terscheckii. However, it will reach its maximum height at a younger age than most other Trichocereus.

Diameter gets to around 15cm and the most mature plants will stand at around 2.5-3 metres tall. This height is usually achieved after 15-25 years depending on the growing conditions.

  • One of the biggest concerns for buying plants online is their safe delivery. Even cacti, which are known for being hardier than your average houseplant can get pretty banged up in a distribution centre by a careless worker. But at Cactus Culture Australia we have perfected our cactus packaging and can boast a 100% (yes, really, 100%) safe delivery rate. Our perfect track record is thanks to the medium-density foam we surround our cacti with inside the box. What’s even better is that we source this foam from a factory and save it from going to landfill - pretty great, huh? We are so confident in the safe delivery of our plants that if your plant shows up damaged/broken, we will replace it for you free of charge (you will need to send us the damaged one back, and we’ll pay the shipping).

  • Products are not cut to order, if the item is in stock that means it is ready for dispatch. Your order will be dispatched on the Monday following your order being placed. If we are out of stock on an item, please enter your email to be notified when it comes back in stock. We are constantly updating our website inventory to be accurate of our ready-to-send stock.
