Stetsonia coryne, more commonly known as the “Toothpick Cactus” is a huge tree-like cactus native to Argentina with exceptionally large spines. This cactus is the only species in the genus Stetsonia and it has truly unique shape and form.

Stetsonia coryne, the sole species of the monotypic genus Stetsonia, is a huge, branching, tree-like cactus that grows to a height of 3-10 m tall.
It is endemic the hot deserts of Argentina, mostly the Chaco region. It can be found growing in Catamarca, Córdoba, Chaco, Formosa, Jujuy, La Rioja, Salta, Santiago del Estero, and Santa Fe, in Bolivia in Santa Cruz and Tarija, and in Paraguay.

Plant in a free-draining 50/50 organic/mineral soil mixture. If you are prone to over watering or planting in-ground in a high rainfall area consider using a higher mineral percentage as high as 80%.
Full sun preferable
Keep dry in winter.
